July 16, 23, 30: Washington Square Music Festival

The NYU Office of Government and Community Affairs is happy to promote the following free and public event from one of our non-profit neighbors:

Tuesdays in July come enjoy the 55th Season of free music and song with the Washington Square Music Festival. Tuesdays at 8:00 p. Rain space, St. Joseph's Church, 371 Sixth Avenue.

July 16: A Musical Adventure with works by John Cage, Jed Distler, Richard Strauss, and Adolphe Blanc, and Michael Wookey. Featuring Margaret Leng Tan, toy piano virtuoso, in the U.S. premiere
concerto for toy piano and chamber ensemble.

July 23: Mostly VW--· Orchestral interludes and arias by Richard Wagner and Giuseppe Verdi in celebration of their 200th birthdays. Instrumental and vocal transcriptions for chamber ensemble.

July 30: Music of East Africa featuring Nepo Soteri, guitarist, singer and composer who survived the Rwandan civil war. Preceding the concert at 3:00 pm will be a children's interactive rhythm workshop with African musicians.
